Helbiz 02: APP Redesign
The design team's priority was to optimize HELBIZ as a user-friendly platform for convenient, eco-friendly shared riding. We focused on enhancing safety, user efficiency, and sustainability, resulting in a redesigned app with improved information architecture, workflow, and UI elements, leading to significantly enhanced usability and user satisfaction.
Background
HELBIZ, established in 2015 by Salvatore Palella, is a pioneering platform in Italy's shared electric scooter sector. The platform aims to support citizens' convenient shared riding experiences while promoting environmental sustainability.
Actions
Our design team focused on enhancing HELBIZ's potential by addressing key areas: improving user safety, streamlining the main user flow for efficiency, ensuring visual consistency, and emphasizing sustainability.
Through a comprehensive redesign process, we targeted information architecture, workflow, layout, and UI elements based on usability evaluations.
Results
We redesigned it from three aspects: information architecture, workflow, layout and UI based on usability evaluation. Our three main outcomes are as follows:

The overall evaluation of the redesigned APP is great. The usability and users’ level of satisfaction are both improved significantly. At the same time, we have some future envisioning of our new system. They are as follows:
If possible, make CO2 points a motivational system for users to promote usage of green vehicles and promote the brand’s value.
Raise the priority of the “Report problem“, to make it easy to be reached by users throughout the journey.
